Un giardino sul mare, che accompagna la Città della Scienza ad affacciarsi sul litorale flegreo, fronte all’isolotto di Nisida, al Golfo di Pozzuoli e alla vastità del Mediterraneo. Uno spazio pubblico prezioso e significativo, disteso lungo la costa e animato delle funzioni dello Science Centre. Un edificio compatto che, levitando sopra ai Giardini della Scienza, connota il paesaggio con un gesto sobrio e asciutto, memoria — nelle forme e nei materiali — del passato industriale e delle vicissitudini della Città della Scienza, ma, al contempo, proteso verso il futuro. Uno spazio pubblico dal carattere mediterraneo e urbano, collocato — al riparo delle intemperie e dal sole estivo — al di sotto dell’edificio principale, con lo sguardo rivolto al mare e, come cielo e come mura, i contenuti materiali e immateriali del museo.

A garden on the sea, guiding the City of Science to reach out to the Phlegraean coast, opposite the small island of Nisida, the Pozzuoli Gulf and the vastity of the Mediterranean Sea. A precious and significant public place, which unwinds along the shore and is animated by the Science Centre’s functions. A compact building that, floating over the Science Gardens, denotes the landscape with sobriety and straightforwardness – a reminder, in its shapes and materials, of the industrial past and the vicissitudes of the City of Science, reaching out, at the same time, towards the future. A public space with an urban and Mediterranean edge, located – protected from the weather and the summer heat – below the main building, looking out to sea, with the material and immaterial contents of the museum as its sky and walls.
