La Bookroom è parte integrante delle cinque mostre di Triennale Expo – City After the City, ne costituisce il naturale approfondimento e ne ritrascrive i contenuti in forma bibliografica a partire dai temi espressi nelle singole mostre.
Presenta oltre 2000 titoli nazionali ed internazionali e si articola secondo i cinque argomenti delle mostre, con due sezioni aggiuntive dedicate alla saggistica e all’infanzia.
I testi sono disposti solo su piani orizzontali, si offrono al visitatore con il criterio della mappa e della visione archeologica; l’immagine complessiva è quella di un grande piano orizzontale ad altezza costante, dove il percorso allude all’attraversamento dello scavo e il processo di sottrarre materia diviene il movimento pertinente a quanto si vuole predisporre. È un cretto dove le pareti si smaterializzano confondendosi con il terreno stesso e con le parole che indicano le sezioni e che percettivamente risalgono fino a raggiungere le parole stesse dei testi.

The Bookroom is an integral part of the five exhibitions of Triennale Expo – City After City, it is their natural prosecution and it rewrites their contents in a bibliographic way starting from the themes expressed in each exhibition. It hosts over 2000 Italian and international books and it is articulated according to the five topics of the exhibitions, with two additional sections dedicated to essay writing and children. The books are arranged on horizontal planes: they offer themselves to the visitor as a map and an archaeological search; the overall picture is that of a great and level horizontal plane, and moving through it reminds of the passage through an excavation site, while picking books becomes the act of removing matter from the site, a pertinent action to the will of the setting. It is a chink where the walls dematerialise and become muddled with the ground itself and with the words indicating the sections, which perceptively climb back up to reach the very words of the books.
