All’interno dello storico e vincolato complesso della Villa Bossi Porro-Lambertenghi di Tavernerio viene ampliato l’edificio utilizzato come dormitorio del Centro Neuropsichiatrico Infantile dell’Istituto Villa Santa Maria. Dallo spazio dei servizi generali viene creato un collegamento verso il nuovo edificio costruito parallelamente alle mura del complesso. La corte che si crea tra i due corpi è uno spazio pensato per le attività all’aperto dei ragazzi, con vista rivolta al bosco e circondata dai locali di svago e aggregazione e termina verso nord con un’ampia scalinata alla base della quale è posto un parapetto a protezione dei ragazzi. Questo tipo di accorgimento permette di non creare alcuna barriera visiva verso la vegetazione boschiva, atteggiamento che è stato ripreso come filosofia generale del progetto e nell’individuazione delle scelte più opportune per condurre e tutelare la vita dei giovani ospiti.

Within the historic complex of Villa Bossi Porro-Lambertenghi in Tavernerio, the dormitory building of the Infant Neuropsychiatric Centre of Villa Santa Maria Institute has been expanded. From the general services space, it was created a passageway to the new building, parallel to the walls of the complex. The courtyard that springs between the two bodies is a space dedicated to outdoors activities for the youths of the centre, with a view over the forest and surrounded by recreational and meeting areas, and it ends on the northern side with a wide staircase at whose base a railing is put in place to protect the kids. This expedient makes it possible not to create a visual barrier with the forest vegetation: an attitude that was taken up as a general rule for the project and in the identification of the best choices to lead and protect the lives of the young guests.
